Changes to Building Legislation 2007

The first changes to Building Legislation have been announced, following the review of all building legislation that took place in 2006. Changes to the monetry thresholds and limits of the Home Building Contracts Act 1991 (HBC) were to be introduced on 27 February 2007 but are now due to take effect from 2 July 2007 to allow the building industry to develop implementation strategies. The changes will apply to all ‘home building work contracts’ and ‘residential building work contracts’ (as defined in the HBC Act), signed on or after the 2 July 2007.
