The Painters’ Registration Board

The Painters’ Registration Board seeks to help painting professionals, consumers and clients of painting professionals to maintain quality painting standards within the local and wider community.

The Painters’ Registration Act which was introduced in 1963 has two main objectives, namely to ensure that those who are professionally engaged in painting are competent, and to provide consumers with a means of recourse via the Painters’ Registration Board Section 16 Inquiries, if painting work is found to be faulty or unsatisfactory.

Any painter employed within the Board’s area of jurisdiction for work over $200 must be registered with the Painters’ Registration Board. Consumers should ask to see the Registered Painter’s identification card before entering into a contract or engagement for painting, including roof painting and wallpapering work over $200. The Board can assist with any problems on workmanship.
